Orla Phelan – OTC Counter Assistant

Orla joined our team in April 2020. Originally from the village of Cullohill, Co. Laois, she now lives in Adrigole in beautiful Beara.
Having worked in Marketing for a number of years Orla has gained invaluable experience in working with people and caring for their needs. She is now currently working on the Medicines Counter Assistant Coarse with the National Pharmacy Association.
Orla really enjoys working in a community pharmacy  and finds it very rewarding to be able to help people on a daily basis. Loving a challenge, Orla believes every day is an opportunity to learn something new.
Family and friends mean the world to her. In her spare time she loves all things fitness and is a keen runner and enjoys cycling.

Elaine English – Beauty Therapist

Elaine English is  a qualified Beauty Therapist since 2009.  Elaine joined our team in July 2020.

Elaine is married and have 3 kids and lives in Glengarriff.  She is an experienced Beauty Therapist with over 11 years experience.  While she specializes in all aspects of beauty, she is renowned for her facials and skincare knowledge, and having introduced the award winning Image Skincare to our salon we are sure a facial with Elaine will become a must.  Elaine is proficient in waxing, threading, massage, nails and is highly sought after for bridal make up also.  What is most important to Elaine is that her client is comfortable, relaxed and satisfied with their treatment and feel and look great afterwards. Elaine loves to chat and interact with her clients and advice them on the best products that suit their skin needs.  Elaine is also a Clarins expert and is available for Clarins Skincare Consultations and makeovers also.

Karina O’Sullivan – Beauty Therapist

Beauty Therapist
Graduated Susan Ryan’s School of Beauty in 2005 with a CIBTAC diploma in Body Therapy & Aesthetic Treatments. Karina also has an ITEC qualification in Nail Technology.

Karina owned her own very successful business called Bee Amazing Nails & Beauty up to 2019, but decided to close when she had her little boy.   Karina has since furthered her studies and qualified as a Ms Diva Eyelash Extension Technician in 2020.  She has been steadily growing her portfolio of eyelash extensions and has grown a great following and reputation.

Karina loves all aspects of beauty, but my favorite and specialities are lashes & Nails. Karina loves the look on clients faces when they see the finished product. Having been widely known for her nails, an appointment with Karina is highly sought after!
Karina is a fully trained Clarins skincare and make up consultant and also recently completed the LauraB MUA make up course.
Karina loves to learn new things and so is always furthering her knowledge in the beauty industry. Karina loves to go walking and exploring with Rían in my spare time.

Emer Kennefick – Pharmacy Technician

Emer is a qualified pharmacy technicianand joined our team in June 2020.

Emer is originally from Ballincollig, where she grew up and went to school.  Having family from the beautiful Beara peninsula, Emer spent alot of my time in the area and she knew from very early on it was where she would like to live one day.

Emer studied in Cork Institute of Technology, where she obtained an honours bachelor degree in Business. Throughout college, Emer worked in her local pharmacy and gained knowledge in all departments such as; the cosmetics and the photography laboratory . Emer then went on to become a healthcare advisor, where she gained huge experience. From that point Emer knew she wanted to further her study and eventually work within a team in the dispensary where she would learn more about the different medicines in an industry that is forever developing, in line with helping the community and providing customer service.

Emer completed the pharmaceutical technician course through the Irish Pharmacy Union and graduated in 2017.

Working in a community pharmacy is Emer’s favourite.  There are a variety of roles and it is a very rewarding position as it involves helping people. Emer enjoys the social interaction side of the job with customers very much so as you get to meet some wonderful people along the way.

Emer has a passion for music and horses. She likes travelling to see new cities and countries. Spending time with friends and family is also important to Emer and of course socialising.

Simply have a good laugh-is the best medicine of all!

Nuala Carey MPharm MPSI – Owner Pharmacist

Nuala is the Superintendent Pharmacist owner of Glengarriff Pharmacy and Beauty Rooms.

Nuala Carey obtained her Honours Master of Pharmacy degree from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen in July 2006. She went on to study her pre-reg year in Aberdeen, before returning to Cork to work as a pharmacist. Working in Cork and Coachford for 3 years after returning to Ireland, Nuala opened Glengarriff Pharmacy in July 2010.

Nuala was a finalist for Superintendent Pharmacist of the Year in 2016 and 2017, and was the winner of Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur for Best Established Business Cork North and West in 2016.

Nuala has a keen interest in fitness, heart health, nutrition and as a mum of 5 young children, is especially interested in children’s health also.

Nuala launched her pharmacist blog in July 2017, which serves as an information source for all health related topics of interest and common healthcare queries.

Philip Byrne MPSI – Pharmacist

Philip hails from the Parish of Fethard in South Tipperary. From a farming background he now lives in West Cork where he is married with a wife and family.

Philip received his M.Pharm from Sunderland University and is currently doing locum work in Community Pharmacies. He has a special interest in the management of hypertension and type II diabetes. Philip is a keen walker, part-time gardener and likes to work with stone.

Don Kingston – MPharm MPSI

Don Kingston MPharm MPSI joined the team in January 2018.  He works as a part time pharmacist for the company.  Don completed his Honors Master of Pharmacy degree in Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen in July 2006 and went on to complete his pre-reg year in Manchester.  He returned to Cork thereafter.  Don is also Nuala’s brother.

Clianadh Harrington – Beauty Therapist/Trainee Technician

Clianadh is the youngest member of our team. From Adrigole, Co. Cork. She graduated from the Cork College of Commerce in 2015 with an ITEC & CIDESCO Diploma in Beauty Therapy.

Clianadh is constantly furthering her knowledge and skills and has completed an Astonishing Nails -nail extension course with Divine Digits in 2016, and the IPU Counter Assistant Course in 2016.

Clianadh is also currently working on Year 1 of the IPU Pharmacy Technician course.

She is especially interested in nail extensions, waxing and skincare. In her spare time enjoys walking and socialising with her friends
